Abstract

Abstract Saturated hydrocarbons react with carbon monoxide in the presence of copper(I) carbonyl catalysts in FSO3H-SbF5. Tertiary-carboxylic acid and secondary-carboxylic acid were obtained in high yields at −2 to +2 °C and at 1 atm of carbon monoxide. For the isomerization process of intermediate carbonium ions, the cleavage of the C–C bond was recognized, and stable t-butyl cations were formed.
