Abstract

The binuclear rhodium complex [(Ph 3P) 4Rh 2(μ-OH) 2]·2C 6H 6 is an effective catalyst for the carbonylation of aryl iodides to acids. This Rh-catalyzed carbonylation is applicable to the synthesis of diacids. Iodoalkanes also undergo carbonylation, but in low yields.
