Abstract
Selective carbonyl olefinations of aldehydes or ketones with OH groups, e.g. 1, are facilitated by the readily accessible compounds Cl(O)MoCH2 and Cl3MoCH2. In contrast to Ti and Zn reagents, these Mo compounds can even be used in the presence of water or ethanol.
