Abstract

AbstractThe carbonatation of calcium hydroxide has been re‐investigated using thermal andX‐ray diffraction methods of analysis. The crystal size and morphology of Ca(OH)2vary with the method of preparation, which also affects the rate and mechanism of the carbonatation reaction. This is also dependent upon the relative humidity established prior to carbonatation. The form of the thermograms is described and the nature of the changes responsible for the peaks discussed.
