Abstract

Formulas pertaining to various Bloch-Siegert effects were tested experimentally, with proton NMR spectra of simple compounds. The formulas were then used to calculate the magnitude of such effects expected for proton-spin decoupled, carbon-13 spectra. The major perturbance of frequencies observed when high-intensity decoupling powers were used was not due to Bloch-Siegert effects, but to heating effects.
