Abstract

Bolometers and thermometers made of commercially available carbon resistors display large magnetic field dependent signals when used with field modulation. These signals are not induced pick-up or magneto-resistive effects, but are shown to be fully explained by small amounts of magnetic impurities. Such effects can be reduced by proper design of field modulation experiments involving bolometers.
