Abstract
A novel gas sensor based on aligned carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was developed for gas detection at normal temperature and atmosphere pressure. Controlled DC power supply is gradually applied between anode (AAO of aligned carbon nanotubes film) and cathode (Al plate), and the experimental data are measured through detecting circuit, which consists of HITACHI oscilloscope and amperemeter. Different types of gases have particular breakdown voltages and discharge current, so it is possible to detect one gas or a gaseous mixture. The results show that carbon nanotubes gas sensor based on corona discharge is effective, convenient, and can be prepared easily. The gas sensor is practical due to its particular characteristics.
