Abstract

This paper is concerned with the oxidation of carbon monoxide in laminar diffusion flames. Data on the carbon monoxide concentration distributions in different diffusion flame geometries are correlated with a conserved scalar called the mixture fraction. The correlation is used to determine a global carbon monoxide oxidation rate applicable for CO consumption in the lean-to-stoichiometric regions of laminar diffusion flames.
