Abstract

The extremely complex structure of carbon-based quantum dots (CQDs) greatly limits the understanding of the solid-state photoluminescent mechanism of CQDs. In article number 2004621, Siwei Yang, Peng He, Guqiao Ding, and co-workers summarize the current understanding of the solid-state photoluminescent (PL) of solid-state CQDs from the perspective of energy band theory and electronic transitions. In addition, the common strategies for realizing solid-state PL in CQDs are also presented.
