Abstract

Carbohydrate microarrays allow the rapid screening of interactions between glycans and other molecules, such as proteins, other carbohydrates, or even whole bacteria. It is shown that a great variety of proteins with binding properties for specific glycan epitopes are used for lectin microarrays. Nowadays, microarray methods are also used for direct analysis of live mammalian cell-surface glycome. This chapter gives an introduction to the extensive microarray technology.
