Abstract

ABSTRACT Fatigue damage in bituminous mixtures is simulated in laboratory with a standard test. This test allows to determinate the material's fatigue law which is used in the calculation of admissible loadings. This law doesn't take into account the effects of temperature and healing in bituminous mixtures. Fatigue tests at different temperatures permit to note that fatigue performance of a GB3 can be increased two times according to the temperature of the test. An experimental protocol has been created to test the same GB3 in traffic conditions closer to reality. An experimental campaign has permitted to study the influence of rest time, temperature and loading intensity. We obtain a more complete fatigue law. This law quantifies the saving of fatigue performance due to healing. We have to confirm those conclusions with real scale tests.
