Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the most significant characteristics of being a good professional” in the opinion of teachers and students of Engineering at the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California in Mexico. Qualitative and quantitative techniques for analysis were used, which allow to determine that competences determined by the characteristics of honesty, responsibility and ethics, were the most important ones. However, some discrepancies between the opinion of students and professors in the evaluated characteristics. It is concluded that it is convenient and necessary to evaluate the agreement between the objectives of important careers such as engineering and the actual formative programs of the university.
