Abstract

Abstract This article aims to characterize student assistance in the context of the IFMG, seeking to detail aspects of the institutional policy on this topic and how the actions that support the students' permanence are carried out. For this, a case study was elaborated using documentary research, which allowed us to understand how the institution implements the guiding definitions proposed by the National Student Assistance Program (Pnaes). It was possible to observe that the researched institution has several strategies that aim to contribute to the academic training of students, especially the granting of socioeconomic aid to those identified as more vulnerable, although the percentage of students served is still small in relation to the total number of students enrolled.
