Abstract

This study is par/ of the IBCCA project (International Bathymetric Chart of the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico) which main purpose is to define and characterize the submarine relief in the area assigned by the IOC (lntergubermental Oceanographic Comission) in the Caribbean Sea between 0 7°30 '-16°30' lat N and 71º00 '-83º00' long W. lt shows the morphological description of the SW Caribbean, including the characteristics of each feature, its name and some dimensions as well as minimum and maximum depths. This information permits its location into a regional context and relate the feature with the majors ones. The region has been divided in six sectors according to its morphological characteristics and location. These sectors are the Panamá and Colombia Shelves, the Zenú and Caribaná Continental Slopes, the Colombian Basin and the Sector of the Cays and Banks.
