Abstract

In this personal account, an intensive care unit nurse reflects on his experience working at a South Carolina hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic and his endeavor to document its impact through photography. Despite initial challenges, the nurse's proposal for a “Public Service Project” was approved by the hospital administration. The project gained national attention through media coverage, highlighting the toll of the virus on patients and health-care professionals. The author aims to break the privacy barrier, shedding light on the realities of COVID-19 and inspiring understanding in the public.
