Abstract

In cellular radio system, both multipath propagation and additive interference can disrupt the constant envelope property of the received signal, but the constant modulus algorithm (CMA) has the ability to remove received envelope variations and reject the various interference components from the desired signal. The capture properties of CMA in Gaussian noise environment have been fully developed (J.R. Treichler and M.G. Larimore, 1985). This paper proposes a GCMA (generalized CMA) which generalizes the CMA by introducing the /spl alpha/-stable distribution as the noise model. Here, the original CMA is only a special case of the GCMA. An analytical model is proposed to analyze the capture properties of the GCMA.
