Abstract
The synergism in radical stabilisation by captodative (cd) substitution is essentially a thermodynamic resonance effect (1). We have been interested whether in different radical reactions a kinetic cd-effect would be observable. A rate enhancement by cd substitution would agree with synthetic results leading to selectivity in radical addition and H-abstraction reactions (2).
