Abstract

The author describes W.R. Bion's concept of basic assumption groups, giving examples of such functioning in cricket teams. He compares and contrasts the roles of (group) therapist and team leader, addressing in particular the means each has at his or her disposal for effecting change by lessening basic assumption activity.
