Abstract

A number of well-preserved specimens of Caprocancer altus from the lower (Ypresian) and upper (Priabonian) Eocene of the Vicenza area in northeast Italy enable a more complete de- scription of this species which, until now, was known solely from two incomplete carapaces from the Budapest area (Hungary), of late Eocene age. It is argued that Vestenanovia carinata Beschin, Busulini & Tessier , 2015, from the lower Eocene of Lessini (Vestenanova, Verona, Italy) is a junior synonym of C. altus .
