Abstract

Abstract Capitalism is an economic system based on private ownership of the means of production with profit as its main goal. Economic systems have influences on political communication, including the political support of the economy and media systems, which influence elections. These relationships are analyzed here within the study of political communication under a capitalist economic system. Digital media is changing political communication, but may not be contributing to more democratic systems.
