Abstract
The elution behaviour of 43 possible C 6C 14 n-alkynes was studied on squalane and 4- n-pentylacetophenone-(O-4- n-pentyloxybenzoyloxime) liquid crystal as stationary phases in glass capillary columns. The influence of factors affecting the reproducibility of the retention indices of n-alkynes was investigated. Structure—retention correlations are discussed as a means of characterization, considering fine structural effects (propyl effect, hyperconjugation, alternation). Advantages of the use of a liquid crystal as a stationary phase for the separation of n-alkyne isomers are demonstrated.
