Abstract

This paper presents new insights in capacity analysis for two systems, namely, Shared-RF and On-Demand Hybrid RF/FSO systems. The analysis takes impact of atmospheric turbulence and mis-alignment errors into consideration. Optimal rate and power adaptation is applied for optical links under average transmit power constraint. Closed form expressions for capacity of Shared RF and On-Demand systems are presented. Results show considerable improvement in capacity of these systems over that of free space optical (FSO) links.
