Abstract

The upper bounds for SNR gains from several interference cancellation scenarios are calculated under different multipath environments and different power allocations for HSDPA (high speed downlink packet access) users. The simulation results show that cancellation of the intercell pilot has a larger gain than intracell pilot cancellation. When the power allocated to the HSDPA signal is reduced, the gains of canceling the interference from the intracell pilot and other HSDPA codes are also reduced, due to excessive MUI (multiple user interference). Further performance improvement based on the MPIC (multipath interference cancellation) technique is also studied, which includes intracell MUI cancellation.
