Abstract

This work analyses the integration of mathematical programming with ERP to solve capacitated production scheduling problems. The limits of critical resources on the shop floor are considered and the production system is modelled as a capacitated network flow problem with additional constraints. The proposed formulation adds to the standard ERP the 'temporal view' of the scheduling problem that overcomes overload situations. A case study of a scheduling problem in an auto-parts industry confirms the importance of the integration of the two methodologies.
