Abstract

Since early in our history plants have been perceived as quiet and static living beings due, among other reasons, toa radically different rhythmic cadence of life from that of humans. In the last decades, we have witnessed studies thatreveal that plants are neither silent nor motionless. The projects that will be reported in this paper are sustained on thatidea, that is, acknowledging plants as invaluable allies on a path to a more conscious relationship with the planet that bothus humans and plants share. The Cant(a)eiro project, which has a greater inclination towards musical performance andmusical education; the Flormiga project, which addresses sound design inspired by organic processes. Both projects aimto provide new ways of relating music practices and music education, particularly through interaction with plants, as wellas promoting sensitive bonds between students in school contexts and nature.
