Abstract

Spontaneous chronic corneal epithelial defects or ‘SCCED’ lesions are superficial corneal ulcers that occur most commonly in middle-aged, usually large breed dogs, although they may be seen in any breed. They are moderately common in general practice and can be frustrating to treat. This article outlines the aetiopathogenesis, clinical diagnosis and possible treatment options.
