Abstract

A novel strategy was developed to prepare stretchable superhydrophobic surface by deposition of candle soot on PDMS film without using complicated facilities or environment-unfriendly fluorides. The superhydrophobic film shows excellent water-repellent property and stretching capability due to the rough structure of candle soot layer and elastic property of PDMS layer. The film can be stretched for more than 100% without destroying the rough structure of candle soot layer.
