Abstract

A phytoplasma was identified from symptomatic Babylon willow (Salix babylonica Linn) trees growing in urban areas in Isfahan, Yazd and Markazi provinces of Iran. Results of nested-PCR, sequencing and phylogenetic analysis indicated that the phytoplasma belongs to the ‘ Candidatus phytoplasma solani’ (16SrXII) taxonomic group.
