Abstract

The relationship between isolation of Candida albicans and positive skin tests for Candida was studied in 21 cases of maxillary squamous cell Carcinoma, and in 16 cases of maxillary sinusitis as control. In the control cases, Candida albicans was not isolated from any patient with a positive skin test for Candda. On the other hand, 9 out of 14 cases of maxillary squamous cell carcinoma were positive both for the skin test and the Candida isolation. In cases with a positive skin test and Candida isolation, the possibility of cancer should not be excluded. A screening examination for cancer should be required.
