Abstract

In this issue of Cell Host & Microbe, Basso etal. delineate a mechanism for the fungal lipase Lip2 during systemic infection with Candida albicans, the most common human fungal pathogen. They find that lipids liberated by Lip2 can manipulate the protective host cytokine response, thereby enhancing fungal virulence.
