Abstract

AbstractCancer is a group of lethal diseases caused by uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells. The cause is often not clear, which makes early diagnosis and effective treatment very difficult. Advances in biomedical engineering have allowed for the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic methods via different approaches ranging from engineered biomolecules to cells to tissues that have improved cancer research and treatment dramatically. This chapter introduces some applications of biomedical engineering in cancer diagnosis and treatment.
