Cancer Diagnosis in Children

Abstract

This 131-page text with numerous illustrations reviews current techniques of cancer diagnosis in children with sections on History and Physical Examination, Radiological Diagnosis, Pediatric Nuclear Medicine, Surgical Diagnosis, Pathology, and Other Diagnostic Aids. The title is somewhat misleading in the sense that the book is basically a review of nuclear medicine and radiological techniques. Although slanted towards tumor diagnosis in children, the nuclear medicine section covers the gamut of nuclear medicine imaging. Some of the information is out of date and some procedures, such as 131Cs for myocardial scanning are in practice hardly ever used, especially for tumor localization. Over one half of the entire book relates to nuclear medicine. The x-ray diagnosis section (21 pages) is a fairly good review of techniques available for tumor diagnosis.
