Abstract

Summary The results of intra-arterial abdominal infusion have been mostly palliative. Technics are being developed for the ideal application of high concentration of agents when more selective drugs are designed. Intra-arterial replacement of indwelling catheters can be accomplished with relative safety. Early results strongly suggest that far advanced, nonresectable local malignancies without demonstrable distant spread should be treated vigorously with combined intra-arterial chemotherapy and high energy irradiation.
