Abstract

The diagnosis is acne vulgaris. This is one of the most common skin disorders affecting young teenagers. It is caused by an inflammation arising around the philosebaceous follicles on the face, neck, shoulders and upper back. Acne is characterized by increased skin greasiness, open and closed comedones, and inflamed lesions such as papules, pustules and, in severe cases, nodules. Acne is classified in three main groups: mild, moderate and severe. This patient has mild-to-moderate acne.
