Abstract

The author provides a context for the beginnings of the professional development school movement, and reviews the critical attributes of PDSs. She also provides a list of assumptions about teaching and learning to teach that underlie the PDS which differ markedly from the traditional approaches to teacher learning in student teaching settings.
