Abstract

The brain–mind problem is a fundamented issue addressed by philosophers and neuroscientists for centuries. They have been divided into those believing that the mind is just a reflection of physiological processes (two monistic view) and those claiming that while the mind has parallel brain activities, they are basically different and unbridgeable entities (dualistic view). The availability of modern neuro-imaging, particularly fMRI, has allowed new approaches to this problem. fMRI has been very effective in identifying brain areas involved in neural and mental processes.
