What ever happened to good managers? Is the bold, risk-taking, imaginative, intuitive, and most of all independent decision maker still alive? Or has he been drowned In a value system that reveres compliance, group norms, group mores, and group responsibility? Has OD in effect substituted group effort for individual achievement? Do organizational development strategies and approaches clash with the profile of the effective manager?
