Abstract

Dexamethasone is the primary treatment for moderate to severe acute mountain sickness and high-altitude cerebral edema. Vomiting or neurologically altered patients require intramuscular or intravenous administration, which requires medical training. Considering the use of the nasal route would expand the possibilities of using dexamethasone in difficult altitude conditions by mountaineers.
