Abstract

We investigate an inflationary scenario leading to a power spectrum for the scale dependence of primordial density fluctuations, Δϱ/ ϱ ∼ l − ν . The model has no very small dimensionless parameters and Δϱ/ϱ is of order unity for scales l E corresponding to the horizon near the end of inflation. The small primordial density fluctuations on galactic scales l G are explained by the huge ratio l G/ l E, and are therefore a direct consequence of the many e-foldings of the scale factor during inflation. Possible observable consequences for the structure formation in the universe are shortly addressed.
