Abstract

Around the world, admission due to dental sepsis in public hospitals is rising. The issues behind this are diverse. There can be significant sequelae to these infections, including ICU admission, prolonged intubation, tracheostomy, scarring, tooth loss and oral rehabilitation as well as short- and long-term swallowing issues. We wanted to identify if there was any way to identify those who may need a CT scan, NG tube and tracheostomy in our patient group to help with decision-making processes in the future.
