Abstract

School-based health centers (SBHCs) are clinics within schools that facilitate access to health care for students. Health care accessed in school decreases time away from school owing to illnesses or appointments and should lead to fewer absences, improvements in performance, and decreases in dropout rates.1 Asthma is a common chronic condition of childhood; asthma management is a logical area on which SBHCs should focus to improve school attendance and performance.2
