Abstract
AbstractOne of the perplexing aspects of the depiction of Virgil's Volscian heroine Camilla is her association with the myrtle. Close study of evidence from Aulus Gellius as well as passages from Virgil's epic will reveal the poet's intention to recall the Roman tradition of an ovation in his presentation of Camilla's entry to war.
