Abstract

In the area of Computer Aided Manufacturing so far little effort has been devoted to the on-line process control aspects of manufacturing processes. In the paper an attempt is being made to offer a possible approach based on the Dynamic Data Systems methodology for this purpose. The mathematical essentials for on-line process identification and control based on stochastic principles are introduced, and the impact of the availability of such a method for CAM is emphasized. The proposed concept is demonstrated on the examples of form accuracy control, chatter suppression and on-line tool life monitoring.
