Abstract
The formation of palladium hydride and deuteride by electrolysis has been studied with high precision calorimetry using sealed cells within-situ recombination of gaseous products as well as open cells. Palladium electrodes prepared by different methods were studied. With sealed cells of our design in the heat flow isothermal calorimeter, the uncertainies associated with the gas evolution, evaporation, entrainment, and side reactions were effectively eliminated. No unexpected excess heat was observed within energy balance error of about 2%.
