Abstract

The enthalpies of formation have been measured for the two binary compounds Cr 3Ga and CrGa 4 richest and least rich in chromium of the (Cr–Ga) system. We have used two types of calorimetric method: direct reaction and progressive precipitation calorimetry. Thermodynamic optimizations for the binary (Cr–Ga) system using Calphad method are investigated and a set of parameters describing the Gibbs energy of the different phases is given, the phase diagram has been also calculated and presented.
