Abstract

Differential scanning calorimetry and adiabatic calorimetry (AC) are combined to study the phase diagram of cyanoadamantane (CNa) glassy crystal. Special attention has been paid to the metastable tetragonal phase t which was recently found to develop after a quench below the glass transition temperature. In this paper, the stability of this transient phase is investigated through a variety of thermal treatments and appears to depend strongly on the thermal history of the sample. The results are compared to those previously observed for the mixed compound (cyanoadamantane) .75 (chloroadamantane) .25 .
