Abstract

This month Gov. Gavin Newsom of California announced that almost $17 million has been awarded to 44 community‐based and tribal organizations to develop and increase substance use disorder (SUD) prevention services through civic engagement and culturally competent programs. These awards are part of Elevate Youth California, a statewide Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) initiative to help grassroots community‐based and tribal organizations develop programs for young people living in communities that are disproportionately impacted by the war on drugs.
