Abstract

A method for calibration of LiF: Mg, Ti thermoluminescent dosimeters is presented. The calibrated dosimeters are used in various CT studies involving anthropomorphic phantoms of the human body for estimating the reference levels of effective patient dose. It is shown that application of the method in some cases improves the accuracy of dose estimates by 80% versus conventional calibration in air using standard radiation sources.
