Abstract

The utilization of the melting point of palladium by the method described in this article yields satisfactory results and has proved a reliable method of improving the calibration of rare-metal thermocouples in the region of high temperatures. The method can be recommended as an addition to normal calibration extending only to 1200°C, and also for the regular inspection of high-temperature thermocouples working in furnaces at low immersion depths.
