Abstract

Abstract Research conducted in Japan over the past 20 years has been reviewed and several tested frames suitable for verification by the second-order inelastic analysis method were found. These frames are considered to be benchmark tests and are reported concisely in this paper. Four frames are described in detail: two full size frames (a portal and a gable frame) and two one-quarter scaled frames (a one-storey and a two-storey frame). The original papers describing these frames have been reviewed thoroughly to provide the necessary information for a verification study. Analytical results when available are also shown for comparison. Researchers are encouraged to compare their analysis with these test results, and so in turn more information about these calibration frames can be accumulated.
